God’s People – Serving in Unity for Children
IMAGINE …
GOD’S PEOPLE EVERYWHERE
SERVING IN UNITY…
“What you can accomplish with a partner will always be greater than what you could accomplish alone”
Many of us live in parts of the world where the prevailing culture is one that encourages us to be self-centred and independent. As Christ-followers we are of course called to live a life set apart from these values, living differently. More than that – we have actually been designed to partner …in love, in life, in ministry.
We know the familiar sayings:
• Two are better than one
• TEAM = Together Everyone Achieves More
• If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together!
What is truly life-changing though is when we embrace our identity, being made in the image of God. In God we encounter community in the form of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We are created for community, to belong to one another, to serve and work as one.
Paul spells this out strongly in 1 Corinthians 12,
“12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by[c] one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.”
And picks up the theme again in Ephesians 4,
“4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called… …12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”
The heart of the vision of Global Children’s Forum (enablers of the Aim Lower Journal) invites us to consider such a picture – Imagine …God’s people everywhere, serving in unity… We are invited to be a people who live with such a vision and called to strive towards the greater reality of serving as one body, all across this, our Father’s world. Every part needs each other and every contribution is valuable. …Imagine what God might do through such a movement!
