Children Praying4Families
‘All children need to be nurtured in a safe family household built on love. This is God’s original pattern. At every stage of a child’s development the household family has the most influence’ (Family Active Discipling – max7.org). A child may not be able to articulate this to you but they know that their families are really important! So when children around the world were asked to pray for their families they did!
In February this year the worldwide day (WWD) of Children Praying4Families took place. Children’s ministry leaders and pastors brought children together to pray for families. A creative and interactive program was provided for to them to use as a guide.
Pat, part of the Global Children’s Forum (GCF) and instigator of the event said,
“Many groups got together and lifted up their prayers for families; in their homes, neighborhoods and across the world. There were small and large groups. Mothers, fathers, friends, pastors, church leaders all got together with the children and prayed.”
Children and their leaders met to pray in Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda.
Andrew in Tanzania reported: “nine areas/cities namely Bagamoyo, Morogoro, Tanga, Dodoma, Mbeya, Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Njombe and Kihonda prayed for families. 263 children and 25 Sunday school teachers participated country wide in Tanzania. Thanks for sharing and for your prayers and encouragement.”
Nosa in Nigeria wrote: “We held our WWD of prayers for families today. The children drew pictures of their families and prayed for them. They prayed in twos for each other’s families and used the globe to pray for families in Africa.”
Pat said, “I believe that God is (doing) and will do amazing things through the prayers of our children for theirs and other families.”
Alberto in Mexico (also part of GCF) begun a prayer calendar to pray for children using a daily Whatsapp message, a year ago in English. Then French. Now it is in Swahili. 2000 people are praying daily for the needs of children and their families around the world. Ephesians 3:20 “ Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations for ever and ever, Amen!”
